The Redmond Senior Center will host a free event dedicated to empowering seniors with the knowledge and tools necessary to identify and avoid scams.

The seminar is Wednesday, May 1, from 1-2:15 p.m., and will feature Randi Osbon, a financial expert from First Interstate Bank who will share insights on fraud prevention. The talk will be at the Redmond Senior Center, 325 NW Dogwood Ave.

Fraud and scams targeting senior citizens are a growing concern, with new schemes emerging constantly.

Osbon will help attendees learn practical, first-hand strategies for fraud prevention, equipping them with the knowledge to protect their finances and personal information. It will also underscores the commitment of community organizations like the Redmond Senior Center to offer essential resources and support.

“We are thrilled to have Randi Osbon share her expertise with our community,” said Randy Graves, director of the Redmond Senior Center in a release. “Educating seniors about fraud prevention is crucial in today’s digital age. We hope this talk will foster a sense of vigilance and empowerment among our senior residents.”

The talk is open to all seniors and their caregivers who wish to learn more. A second presentation will be held Wednesday, May 15.
