Nestled in the heart of Redmond, the Redmond Senior Center isn’t just a gathering spot for older adults. It’s a thriving community dedicated to enriching the lives of local seniors. With a robust calendar of engaging activities, programs designed to foster connections, and dedicated staff like program coordinator Angela Boock, the Senior Center offers more than just entertainment — it provides a home away from home for those seeking companionship, laughter, and joy.
“Not everybody wants to play bingo,” says Boock, which is why the center offers a diverse range of programs that cater to many interests.
Bingo and karaoke: Classic crowd-pleasers that encourage fun and socializing.
Happy hour with trivia and live music: A lively social hour filled with good company and entertainment.
Line dancing: An upbeat way to stay active while enjoying great music.
Movie and popcorn nights: Relax with friends and enjoy a film in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere.
Chair yoga: Gentle exercises that promote flexibility, relaxation, and wellness, accessible to all fitness levels.
Each activity is carefully curated to bring participants together and create lasting memories. Whether it’s the thrill of winning bingo, the laughter shared over karaoke, or the serenity found in chair yoga, the Redmond Senior Center offers something for everyone.
In addition to on-site activities, the center operates the Meals on Wheels program, delivering both nourishment and moments of joy to homebound seniors. Volunteers brighten recipients’ days by delivering flowers along with meals. One story stands out: the transition from single roses to bouquets sparked emotional responses from recipients, including a woman battling cancer who was moved to tears by the thoughtful gesture.
These small acts of kindness showcase the heart of the Redmond Senior Center’s mission: building a community where seniors feel valued, seen, and cared for.
Angela and her team dream of expanding the Senior Center’s offerings to include field trips, opening new avenues for exploration and shared experiences. A community bus for outings would create even more opportunities for seniors to explore the world beyond the center. But to make these dreams a reality, the Redmond Senior Center needs the support of community members like you.
The Redmond Senior Center depends on the generosity of donors and volunteers to continue offering these life-enhancing programs. You can make a difference by donating, volunteering or spreading the word.
Your involvement ensures that the Redmond Senior Center remains a place where every senior feels welcome and valued, whether they’re enjoying a nail-polishing session, dancing the night away, or simply sharing a smile over lunch.
Together, we can keep the spirit of the Redmond Senior Center alive and thriving, making every day brighter for the seniors in our community.
