Redmond’s first Dutch Bros. Coffee stand will soon be replaced.

The kiosk, located in the parking lot of a gas station at the corner of SW Highland Avenue and SW 15th Street, just east of Redmond High, will be replaced by a larger prefabricated unit, Hillary Brown, spokeswoman for the Grants Pass-based chain, wrote in an email to the Spokesman. The first of what’s now three Redmond Dutch Bros. has outgrown its current setup.

“The new unit provides more space for both stock and equipment, which means we’ll be able to make drinks faster, improving efficiency and wait times,” Brown wrote.

A power upgrade at the site was expected to be completed last week, with construction starting around July 17, Brown wrote. Construction will take about eight weeks, with the stand staying open for all but a few days when the new building is set into place.

The new building will be larger than the current east Redmond store, though considerably smaller than Dutch Bros. other two Redmond locations, on NW Jackpine Avenue and South Highway 97, Brown wrote.

The new building will have a similarity with the other two Redmond Dutch Bros. — only one drive-through lane. Brown wrote that the new building will have one drive-up window and a walk-up window with a patio, with the shorter lane eliminated. The shorter lane drive-through lane sometimes backed up and blocked the gas station exit.

“The new format will be more efficient and alleviate any traffic issues we experienced at busy times,” she wrote.

During construction, when two buildings will be located next to each other for a time, Dutch Bros. will have employees and signs directing traffic, so customers know where to go, Brown wrote.

According to a building permit filed with the city, the project has a valuation of $60,000.

Redmond’s first Dutch Bros. opened in 2008, shortly before the second location at Jackpine and NW Sixth Street, according to Spokesman archives. The Highway 97 store opened in 2017.

The company’s website says Dutch Bros., which started in 1992, now has nearly 200 locations in seven states.
