Redmond’s downtown ice skating rink opened to a rainy sky and excited skaters on Saturday afternoon.
The rink, located downtown on the 7th Street Plaza between SW Deschutes and SW Evergreen avenues, officially opened despite the lack of snow on Dec. 2.
The approximately 4,000-square-foot rink will be open seven days a week through the end of March, weather permitting. Skate rentals are available from 3-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 2-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 2-9 p.m. on Sundays.
Admission is $2 for serious skaters who own pair. For those who don’t own their own, rental skates are available for $6. If you decide to bring the whole family, admission for up to six people is $20.
For those who own their own skates, admission to the rink is free of charge from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday. During these hours the ice rink may not be groomed and could close if there is snow on the rink, the ice is too soft, or there are other safety hazards.
To check on hours, visit the Redmond Area Parks and Recreation District website or call 541-977-7841 for updates.
