Redmond’s annual Fourth of July parade will take place on July 4 from 10 to 11 a.m., starting at Dogwood and 6th, on 6th Street to Forest.

This year’s theme is “Salute to Service,” which will commemorate the organizations that serve the community and the country.

Eric Sande, director of Redmond Chamber of Commerce, wants to note is that candy will not be allowed to be thrown off the floats in this year’s edition. Candy and other treats must be walked out to the sidewalk to prevent children from running into the street and possibly get injured, said Sande.

Participants should register their floats by 8 a.m. at the intersection of 6th and Dogwood.

On the evening of the Fourth of July at roughly 10 p.m., the annual fireworks show will take place at the Deschutes Fair & Expo Center. This year, no on-site viewing or parking is permitted.

Juniper Golf Course had limited viewing spots for people to purchase. Reservation are needed for parking spots. The course will offer BBQ, beverages and a great vantage point of the show. Call 541-548-3121 for details and reservations.

Sande says that residents should be able to see the fireworks from all over town. He, as well as law enforcement in Redmond, reminded residents to celebrate safely during the holidays.

“Enjoy the Fourth,” Sande said. “Please keep all fireworks to your own home residence and pick up after yourself — leave places the way you found them.”
