- Customers socialize at the Local Paws grand opening event in 2022 in Redmond.
A local business in Redmond is making a difference that extends beyond its store walls.
Local Paws, a pet supply store located at 435 SW Evergreen, is launching a partnership with the Redmond Senior Center.
The aim?
To raise awareness and funds to support seniors and their pets.
Throughout October, the store will collect donations of non-perishable human food, dog and cat food, and supplies.
Community members can drop off donations at the store, and those who contribute 10 or more items will be rewarded with a free item from Local Paws’ give back basket.
Cash contributions are also welcomed to help raise funds for the senior center’s Passion for Pets program.
Local Paws also offers seniors a 10 percent discount every Tuesday.
Local Paws has several events planned.
That includes a customer appreciation event from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 12.
Attendees can purchase raffle tickets for $2 and win gifts valued at over $300. All proceeds will be divided among participating nonprofit organizations.
When owners Jessica and Mark Tiersma heard about the Redmond Senior Center’s work with seniors and their pets, they felt an immediate connection.
“My grandparents would put their dachshund’s health before their own, as many seniors do with their pets,” said Jessica. “These pets are not just companions; they’re family. They bring so much joy and comfort, and it’s crucial that we support both seniors and their pets.”
