- The lodge at Black Butte Ranch won a Building a Better Oregon award from the Central Oregon Association of Realtors.
The Central Oregon Association of Realtors has selected Black Butte Ranch’s new 22,100-square-foot lodge as a winner of the 2024 Building a Better Oregon Award.
Black Butte Ranch unveiled the $20 million facility in 2023. It includes a new restaurant with a state-of-the-art kitchen, private dining room, indoor/outdoor event space, meeting room and areas indoors and outdoors for lounging and dining.
“This award is a true honor and a sign that we hit the mark” said Kyle Cummings, CEO of Black Butte Ranch, in a statement. “We built the lodge to be an amenity not only for Black Butte Ranch’s homeowners and our resort guests but for our entire community … We believe the lodge will stand the test of time as one of Central Oregon’s true gathering places.”
The Building a Better Oregon Award is intended to recognize projects that enhance the community. Projects are judged on economics, neighborhood improvement, design and environmental friendliness.
Areas where the new Black Butte Lodge shined, according to a news release from the resort, were its panoramic views of the Cascades and efforts to preserve all but one large ponderosa pine tree during construction.
That one ponderosa that was cut down, harvested and incorporated into the design and decor of the building.
Black Butte Ranch is an 1,800-acre destination resort in the foothills of the Cascade mountains west of Sisters. It is home to 260 residents, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
