- Marchers dressed in military garb from multiple decades of American history participated in the Veterans Day Parade Nov. 11 in Redmond.
The Redmond Veterans Day Parade, sponsored by the Redmond VFW, will be on Monday, Nov. 11.
Start time is promptly at 11 a.m., honoring the World War I armistice that was signed at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
The sign-in table will be open at 9 a.m. at the northeast corner of 6th St. and Dogwood. When participants sign in, they will be given a placement number.
Call organiszer Dianne Guthrie with any questions at 541-280-5162.
Guthrie said they encourage everyone to participate, especially youth groups. Any equestrian groups must provide their own pooper scoopers.
“Do you have an old car, a dog, a horse? Come on down,” said Guthrie. “Come honor our veterans.”
She noted there will be a float for elderly veterans to ride. She requested those interested in riding on the float call in advance so there is enough room for everyone.
After the parade, there will be a chili feed after the parade at the VFW for all veterans and their families. The lunch is open from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 11.
The Redmond VFW has sponsored the Veterans Day parade in Redmond for more than 75 years — the only exception was a canceled official parade due to Covid.
