Betty Jane (Addington) Davis
Birthplace: Redmond, OR
Birth: Sept. 18, 1940
Death: Sept. 12, 2024
Father: Walter Henry Addington
Mother: Nora Edith (Smalley)
Betty lived with her family in the Redmond area. She married Harlen Enlow when she was young. Betty moved to Bend after remarrying, to Ray Davis in the 1970’s and really enjoyed being with Ray and with their comfortable house.
Betty taught people how to work hard, enjoy and persevere in life and keep being cheery. She wanted people to aspire to pursue what they were interested in, during their lives. When she was younger in Redmond she worked with the potato factory and then in her 30’s she was at a fabric store selling and helping people select the colorful fabrics and materials, which she really enjoyed! Later on she worked in school kitchens and liked being with the young people.
In Betty’s young adult years, she loved to talk with her brothers and sister, and her nieces and nephews when doing activities, like playing cards and then joke around with them in a fun way. Betty enjoyed cooking for others, especially when people came to visit. Planting flowers and doing gardening meant so much to her. She made her backyard in Bend look so nice with the creek running through it. Betty had several dogs and really enjoyed playing with them. When Ray’s children and grandchildren came to the house it was a special time.
She and Ray enjoyed traveling with the RV-going down to Quartzsite, AZ to stay there during the winters-it was so refreshing for them. And then going to the Oregon coast and crabbing at the Port of Florence. It was fun for all-Betty having her side of the family there, and Ray having his children and grandchildren there-we could all visit with each other. Betty was such a special and jolly person in our lives!
Betty is survived by Gene Addington of Albany, and by her nieces and nephews. She also has 4 children, 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, that are from Ray’s side of the family.
Family that preceded her in death was spouse, Ray in 2023; sister, Rosie Fuston in 2002; brothers, Billy Addington in 1928, Roy Addington in 2010, George Addington in 2017, Robert Addington in 2018; and her children Pamela Enlow in 1955, Waunita Enlow in 1957, and Merle Enlow in 1963.
