Clabough Foundation to support FAN advocate services in Redmond: The Family Access Network is the recipient of a $10,000 grant from the Clabough Foundation to support critical FAN advocate services in Redmond. At least 48 percent of Redmond families earn less than the basic cost of living for families in Deschutes County including unemployed, underemployed and low wage earners. Sixty percent of Redmond school children receive free or reduced meals, and 468 homeless children were identified within the Redmond School District in the 2015-16 school year. These are the children served by FAN.

driver of speeding vehicle causes accident: A Warm Springs woman was arrested after crashing an SUV into another vehicle, according to Redmond Police. Police pursued a gray 2011 Dodge Avenger after observing reckless driving behavior. The speeding vehicle turned south onto NW Canal Boulevard, ran a stop sign and crashed into a GMC Yukon at the intersection of NW Elm Avenue and NW Sixth Street. The SUV then spun out of control, hit two parked vehicles and nearly hit another person, police said. The driver then left on foot after the SUV stopped but was found by police, arrested and taken to the hospital as a result of injuries suffered in the crash. Latanna Jackson, 31, was arrested on seven various charges including failure to perform the duties of a driver, six counts of recklessly endangering another person, and DUII for a controlled substance. The occupants of a Chevrolet Tahoe, a mother and two children, ages 5 and 1, did not immediately go to the hospital and were driven away from the scene by other family members. The two passengers from the Dodge Avenger were transported by medics to St. Charles Redmond with severe but non-life-threatening injuries.

COCC of Redmond orientation: Central Oregon Community College is offering “Getting Started” presentations for prospective students starting at 4:30 p.m. June 5 at the Redmond campus in Room 218 in the Technology Center. “PRICE IS RIGHT” PLANT SALE AT CROOKED RIVER RANCH: The “Price Is Right” Plant Sale will be held at 9 a.m. June 10th in MacPherson Park at Crooked River Ranch. The sale will continue until 2 p.m. or until all plants are sold. Over 1,000 plants will be featured, including perennials in gallon pots, beginning at $4. All plants are grown by members of the Mariposa Lily Garden Club. There will be a variety of plants, large shrubs and trees for sale. Admission is free. Proceeds will benefit Garden Club projects.

Redmond Brewfest in August: The First Redmond BrewFest comes to American Legion Park from noon to 10 p.m. Aug 18 and 19. It features more than 300 ice cold beers from more than 75 local, regional and national breweries. The eclipse weekend event features wine and cider tastings, delicious food trucks, free live music and all-ages activities. All profits from alcohol sales goes back to local area children’s charities including Redmond Area Park and Recreation District, Redmond REACH, Rock of Redmond Wrestling Club, and the Redmond Parks Foundation. lyft and uber services begin at airport: Rideshare companies Lyft and Uber began conducting business at the Redmond Airport on May 25, after getting city approval. Both companies will operate their digital network-based services alongside the taxicab, town car and shuttle services available to airport passengers. A complete list of passenger ground transportation options is located online at www.flyrdm.com. The airport also announced it has added 71 new paid parking spaces with new summer flight additions coming.

Deschutes Brewery donates $30,000 to Deschutes land trust: The Deschutes Land Trust received a gift of $30,000 for its Campaign for Whychus Creek from Deschutes Brewery that represents the largest corporate contribution to the Campaign, with nearly $1.7 million raised from private individual contributions. The Land Trust’s goal for the Campaign for Whychus Creek is to protect the wildlife habitat along Whychus Creek. The Deschutes Land Trust conserves land for wildlife, scenic views, and our local communities and has protected more than 8,900 acres since 1995.
