Dennis Charles Peterson

March 30, 1937 – June 25, 2021

Dennis was the first-born child to Elsie and L.I. (Pete) Peterson in Grinnell, Iowa. Dennis went to school in Redmond, Oregon where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Marlys Shortreed. Dennis and Marlys were married on August 13, 1955. They lived in Redmond for several years where their four children were born.

In 1969 Dennis and Marlys moved to Hubbard, Oregon where they purchased the laundromat and drycleaners. In 1982 Dennis started Peterson Equipment Company, a commercial laundry and dry-cleaning company. The Petersons were active members of the North Marion Boosters and square dancers Chaps & Petticoats. Dennis, who enjoyed hunting, was also an active member of the Pudding River Gun Club, the Elks and volunteered cooking for the Lions Club 4th of July Pancake Feed in Bend. Dennis was a volunteer fire fighter for 25 years with the Hubbard Fire Department.

After retirement in 2003, the Petersons traveled throughout the US, Canada, Alaska, Mexico and Norway. They spent 15 winters in Yuma, Arizona.

At his death, Dennis leaves behind his wife of 65 years, his children Larry (Debra) of Redmond, Russell (Jill) of Hubbard, Barbara of Portland and Martin (Cathy) of Aurora, his brothers, Neal (Joni) of Corvallis and Tom (Sheryl) of Redmond, 13 grandchildren (2 deceased) 5 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and an untold number of friends.

Celebration of Life will be at the Pudding River Gun Club, August 14th, from 2pm-6pm. Food will be served at 4:00. Please RSVP a family member if you will attend.
