Crook County, Sisters, Culver bring home volleyball trophies

Crook County players celebrate a set win against Marshfield in the quarterfinals of the Class 4A state volleyball championships at Springfield High School in Springfield Friday morning.

Three Central Oregon volleyball teams brought home trophies at their respective tournaments early Saturday afternoon.

At the Class 4A tournament held in Springfield, No. 8 Crook County rebounded after its near takedown of No. 1 Marshfield in the quarterfinals to win twice Saturday and bring a fourth place trophy back to Prineville.

The Cowgirls started Saturday off with a 3-0 (29-27, 25-15, 25-19) sweep of No. 4 Tillamook. Then later in the afternoon the Cowgirls won a five set match against Henley 3-2 (25-18, 18-25, 19-25, 25-22, 16-14) overcoming being down 2-1 after the first three sets.

Following an upset loss in the semifinals, No. 1 Sisters swept No. 15 Siuslaw 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-9) to finishing third at the 3A tournament in Springfield.

Also bringing home a third place trophy was No. 5 Culver, which beat No. 3 Gaston 3-1 (25-23, 25-17-18-25, 25-23) in four sets at the Class 2A tournament held in Redmond.
