Additions to Tom McCall Elementary were opened to the public on Sept. 21.

Redmond School District’s Vern Patrick and Tom McCall elementary schools now host two classroom additions, both paid for by the $27.5 million bond measure passed in 2020, along with a bond premium and a Oregon School Capital Improvement Matching grant.

The Tom McCall Elementary addition will be shared with Elton Gregory Middle School, depending on the needs of staff and students. Both additions include six new classrooms.

The bond also paid for health and safety features across the district. Vern Patrick Elementary received a freshly paved parking lot, an upgraded HVAC system and new sidewalks. Both elementary schools were updated with new fencing, playground areas, security systems with digital entry control and cameras.

Over a dozen local contractors and vendors helped complete the bond projects. HMK Company managed the bond projects.

The 2020 bond was not estimated to increase the tax rate due to previously refinanced bonds. The district is planning to bring a new bond measure before voters in 2024, and similarly does not believe it will affect the tax rate.

All of the district’s bond projects can be found at the website: hmkco.org/redmondbond.
