Letter: Redmond needs a tech seed fund
Published 3:15 pm Thursday, December 5, 2024
I am the founder, president and owner of Deschutes Ventures, a venture capital firm. I would like to create a tech space community and seed fund in Redmond. We would call this start up incubator “Juniper Ventures” and would like to be located inside the Redmond Chamber of Commerce building.
I have spent the last few years trying to explain the importance of having something like this to various people. Therefore, I am interested in partnering with the Redmond Chamber of Commerce and REDI to include everyone in this project.
Juniper Ventures would be a place where members can work together to create and promote startups. It would be a place where the Redmond tech community can get together to discuss future projects, a place where venture capitalists can go to invest, a place where all of Central Oregon can go to find out the latest news on new startups and become part of the team.
Its a great idea and long overdue. It is time for the Redmond tech community to come together, for venture capitalists to know that there is a place in Redmond to find great startups to invest in, and put the Redmond tech community on the map.
We need to move the Redmond tech community forward and upward and this is how to do it. I’ve already created it. It’s time for the chamber and REDI to step up and do something. I think and hope they will .
