A man was shot in the face east of Redmond and survived.
The suspected shooter was charged with attempted murder on June 7.
Lowell Edward Templeton was shot in the face with a .40 caliber handgun on June 3. He drove himself to St. Charles Redmond and was eventually taken by air ambulance to the Oregon Health & Science University due to the seriousness of his injuries, Deschutes County District Attorney Steve Gunnels said.
Redmond Police investigated the incident, but 36-year-old Darron Jay Reece turned himself in to Prineville Police on Thursday, bringing with him a .40 caliber handgun, Gunnels said.

Gunnels said Templeton, 57, was awake and communicating as of Friday morning.
Reece was initially charged with second-degree murder in Deschutes County Circuit Court Friday morning, but it was later changed to attempted murder along with first-degree assault, felon in possession of a weapon and unlawful use of a weapon.
Reece, also known as D-Boy, has held a number of addresses in recent years, according to court records. Charging documents listed him as homeless. April court records in Templeton’s name list his address as unknown.
Both men live in RVs. Templeton lives near Redmond while Reece lives near Bend, Gunnels said.
The relationship between the two men is unclear, he said.
Reece was booked in the Deschutes County jail Thursday afternoon, where he was being held without bail, according to jail records.
He was expected to appear in court for an arraignment hearing Friday afternoon.
This is the second incident in one week in which a homeless man has been killed or nearly killed in Central Oregon. On May 30, a 62-year-old man, David Hickman, was found murdered in a ditch near his campsite in Bend.
