Central Oregon Ag Show rolls into Redmond this weekend

Published 7:00 am Tuesday, March 25, 2025

The Central Oregon Ag Show will set up shop at the Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center in Redmond March 28-29 offering a one-of-a-kind combination of information, entertainment and education about agriculture.

Admission to the show is free.

The show, presented by the Capital Press, features more than 40 exhibitors offering information about all of the latest agricultural equipment and services. Farmers and ranchers shouldn’t miss this opportunity.

The show is sponsored by the Oregon Farm Bureau, Stettler Supply, Energy Trust of Oregon and the Oregon Department of Energy.

Small Farm School

At the top of Saturday’s agenda is the Small Farm School, which is 9 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. It is presented by the Oregon State University Extension Service and Deschutes Soil & Water Conservation District, High Desert Food and Farm Alliance, OSU Deschutes County Extension Service and School of Ranch.

The cost of the school is $40. Participants are encouraged to register in advance at schoolofranch.regfox.com/central-oregon-small-farm-school.

The day is arranged into three one-hour blocks beginning at 9 am, 10:10 am and 11:20 am, each time slot featuring a choice of four sessions falling under the categories of Business, Irrigation, Planning and Science.

Family activities

There will be agricultural drone demonstrations each day.

For the younger set, there’s a Kid Zone sponsored by the Deschutes County Farm Bureau. Youngsters will get a chance to make ag-centric necklaces and bracelets — and even make a pedal-powered smoothie with an Oregon dairy princess-ambassador.

The Early Day Gas Engine and Antique Tractor Display will be on hand Saturday. The display will take attendees back in time to see how Central Oregon was settled.

Pesticide classes

The show offers four core pesticide safety credits from Oregon and Washington state OSHA in repeating morning and afternoon sessions on Friday in the North Sister Conference Hall. The morning session will be from 8 a.m. – noon. The afternoon session will begin at 1 p.m. and end at 5 p.m.

The classes are free, and participants can register at the door.

$1,000 drawing

The Capital Press will conduct drawings Friday and Saturday to award a lucky show patron each day with a $1,000 prize. Show patrons are invited to register for the drawing at the Capital Press booth in the North Sister Conference Hall. No purchase is necessary.
