Farm Bureau adds scholarships to honor Redmond ag teacher Lance Hill

The Deschutes County Farm Bureau has established the Lance Hill Memorial Scholarship, honoring the years of dedication and service Hill provided to FFA students at Redmond High School.
This $1,500 continuing education scholarship aims to support students pursuing higher education or career training, ensuring that Hill’s legacy continues to inspire future generations.
This scholarship is open to current and past graduates of Redmond High School who were enrolled in FFA classes, as well as Ridgeview High School students who attended FFA courses at Redmond High School. Eligible students may be attending college, trade school, an apprenticeship, or another qualifying training program. The recipient of the Lance Hill Memorial Scholarship is also eligible for other Deschutes County Farm Bureau scholarships.
The bureau’s scholarships now include $11,000 for local students. Scholarships include three $1,000 high school students, one each in the Bend-La Pine, Redmond, and Sisters school districts. It also includes three $1,500 scholarships for past graduates from Deschutes County who are returning to school and two $1,000 trade scholarships for students pursuing technical or vocational education.
These scholarships are available to students in any field of study, with preference given to those pursuing agriculture or forestry. Scholarships are a one-time, non-recurring award and must be used by spring term of the following year.
Applicants must be from Deschutes County, be part of a voting orsSupporting member family of the Deschutes County Farm Bureau, submit a completed application that includes grade transcripts and provide proof of FFA enrollment for the Lance Hill Memorial Scholarship. Returning and trade school students are encouraged to reapply each year while they remain in school. Scholarship funds will be issued directly to the recipient’s college, trade school, or apprenticeship program to support tuition and educational expenses.
Applications must be received by April 30. Interested students should contact their high school counselor or reach out to Deschutes County Farm Bureau directly for an application. They can also be found online at oregonfb.org/scholarships.
