Non-alcoholic bottle shop to open inside Arome in downtown Redmond

- JoAnne Eisler of Redmond will offer free tastings of non-alcoholic drinks inside Arome in downtown Redmond on Fridays and Saturdays.
If your New Year’s Resolution was to drink less alcohol, a new alcohol-free bottle shop in downtown Redmond will open just in time.
Bon Esprits Bottles operated for the first time Jan. 3 inside the Arome kitchen store, 432 SW 6th.
The new enterprise is the brainchild of JoAnna Eisler of Redmond, who tried non-alcoholic spirits a few years ago as a way to improve her health and lifestyle.
“It made an immediate impact in improving my life,” said Eisler. “I saw (starting Bon Esprits) as a way to open this world up to others.”
Eisler said it can be intimidating — and expensive — to dip your toe into non-alcoholic options. People are reluctant to shell out for a fancy mixed drink they might not like. To help introduce them to new flavors in the fast-growing NA field, she started Bon Esprits.
On Fridays and Saturdays, she will offer free pours of a range of NA spirits, from alcohol-free wines and beers to vermouths and a range of herbacious distilled spirits. Eisler said she does not plan to mix up complicated cocktails, but allow tasters to sip on the basic elements that make up those drinks and see what they’re partial to.
Customers are then able to buy those bottles, some of which are made in Oregon, on site at Arome. Or, they may feel more empowered to purchase a NA cocktail next time they’re out on the town.
The weekly sampling events will be 4-6 p.m. on Fridays and 2-6 p.m. on Saturdays at Arome.
