Letter: Redmond High students support school bond

Published 3:30 am Thursday, October 17, 2024

Each year Redmond High School has a motto. This year’s motto is “Carpe Diem.”

For those who aren’t familiar with the term, it means seize the day. As students we try to live the motto everyday, bringing our best to our teachers, our friends, and our school. As Panthers we never give up.

But a positive attitude and the daily comment to our education isn’t always enough. We need your help. Our school is in need of repairs and improvements including, our ventilation system, updates to our band and choir rooms, and a resurfacing to our track. Without a bond to address the needs in our school we are facing a catastrophic failure, our schools’ pipes have been leaking pink liquid which is dangerous and damaging.

Our band room had it bad when our entire floor was covered with it during the summer. Our band and choir rooms also need a big update. Our band lockers and shelves are falling apart and as band students, we want our band and choir rooms to be manageable.

We are asking the voters to support the bond measure that will be on the ballot in November. The bond will raise $97 million without increasing your tax rate. We don’t pay taxes yet, but our parents and families do. Please help save our school.
