Gayle Lee Grimes

July 27, 1935 – June 24, 2024

Gayle was born in Baker, Oregon on July 27, 1935 to parents Lloyd and Louise Durkee. She was the seventh of nine children and the last surviving sibling of her family.

At a young age, the family relocated to Prineville Oregon where she grew up and graduated from Crook County High School in 1953. Over the years, Gayle helped put on many class reunions for her Alma Mater.

In 1954, she married her high school sweetheart, the new kid from California, Shelby Wayne Grimes. They celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary on June 5, 2024.

After moving to Redmond to raise their 4 children, Gayle worked in accounting for COI, Brooks Scanlon/Diamond International and Central Oregon District Hospital.

After retirement her interests were fishing, flowers and her family.

Gayle leaves behind her husband Shelby Wayne Grimes, her children Dan (Diana), Doug (Lisa), Kathy Popish (Chuck) and Kristy Painter (Wayne), eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Gayle passed in Redmond, Oregon on June 24, 2024 at the age of 88.
