Letter: Stopping for pedestrians is the law

Published 3:30 am Thursday, July 11, 2024

To the person who yelled at me recently when I was crossing at the corner of 10th St. and Glacier Ave., which isn’t a crosswalk, implying that I had no right to cross slowing traffic. The state of Oregon recognizes that pedestrian crosswalks exist at every intersection, whether striped or now, unless posted otherwise. And vehicles must yield.

Pedestrian rights takes precedence over yours as an operator of a motorized vehicle.
