From the editor’s desk: Redmond decked out in red, white and blue

- Downtown Redmond was a sea of red, white and blue during its July 4 parade, held as temperatures started to climb over a hot holiday weekend.
Hope you had a pleasant, patriotic and cool Fourth of July!
A colorful parade streamed down Sixth Street on Thursday, as temperatures just started to climb out of the 70s, into the 80s, the 90s and the 100s are just around the corner. It didn’t seem to bother the crowds, however, as locals and visitors alike took in the show. Hope you take time to flip through our slideshow of the event.
But it wasn’t all fun and games, however. Fireworks and illegal brush burning started multiple fires and kept Redmond crews busy in what will likely only be the beginning of a very busy stretch for them. Temperatures are poised to reach 105 by Tuesday, so think about cooling off in local rivers or at the Redmond spray park.
