Letter: Run for office in Redmond

Published 3:30 am Thursday, May 16, 2024

On June 6 you can get on the ballot in Redmond for $50 or $100. Anyone who has lived in Redmond since October 2023 can go into Redmond city hall and get on the November ballot for city council for $50 or mayor for $100. No signatures are required

I encourage all the people of Redmond to consider running for office. This year’s election will be exciting, significant, interesting, and good fun for all. The more people on the ballot the better. The more voices and the more options the better. This year’s political campaigns will bring out the best in all Americans as we celebrate our freedom and our democracy.

There is more than enough common ground for us all to engage in calm, relaxed, polite, civilized discussion on how we will choose to chart our course for our city of Redmond, our county of Deschutes, our state of Oregon and our nation of America.

I look forward to being on the ballot for mayor of Redmond and I am glad there will be many others on that ballot with me. It is an honor and a privilege to be able to take part in this great American tradition of allowing the people to choose their destiny.

Charles Baer

Redmond
