Nearly two years ago, a neighbor of mine became aware that there were six drug houses in our southwest Redmond neighborhood.

She was especially concerned with the one that was close to her house as drug customers were parking next to her house while they went across the street to buy drugs. So she contacted the police and asked that an officer be sent to talk to her and the group of concerned neighbors she was forming.

She has continued to hold quarterly meetings. She also contacted the Neighborhood Watch organization and ordered their safety booklets and signs which have been put up around my neighborhood.

Every time we’ve met, she asked that a police officer be present to answer questions. One has always attended. I have met five different officers through these meetings.

I have been very impressed with the caliber of these officers. They have been very friendly and knowledgeable. At our most recent meeting we learned about the changes that have been made to the disastrous Measure 110.

At a time when there is so much negativity toward the police, I want to congratulate our Redmond Police Department for having such professional and capable officers.
