The Redmond Police Department is seeking public assistance in identifying two suspects allegedly involved in a number of thefts from local businesses and shoppers in Redmond.

The two suspects — one male and one female — allegedly committed theft at Walmart, Texaco, Wilco, and Rite Aid in Redmond between March 17 and March 19, police lieutenant Eric Beckwith said in a release on March 26. Beckwith said victims were both the businesses themselves and the customers of those businesses.

Beckwith said the suspects allegedly rummaged through unlocked cars in store parking lots, in some cases finding credit cards, which they then used at other businesses such as Texaco.

“They stole some items out of those cars and then we had additional crimes related to that. One of the stolen credit cards was used at a nearby business,” Beckwith said. “They stole some personal items out of we believe at least a couple cars, and then used those in corresponding businesses nearby. That is where we got a bunch of the good security footage.”

Inside the stores the suspects allegedly stole various types of merchandise, Beckwith said. He said the thefts were reported soon after.

“We’ve got a lot of footage of them using the card, and of course the card companies are really good at detecting fraud and alerting the victim of fraud,” Beckwith said. “We are hoping something comes through that helps us identify them and then we can make an arrest.”

Beckwith said the suspects were last seen driving a red vehicle with a luggage rack on top. Redmond police advised the public to secure valuables and double check that vehicles are locked when parked.

Those with information on the matter are encouraged to contact the Redmond Police Department by calling the non-emergency dispatch line at 541-693-6911.
