Carson Pond, the owner of a new coffee cart, Rockin' Roasters, stands outside of his new cart which he plans to open on March 20. Pond said he offers espresso based beverages and coffee from Sisters Coffee Company in addition to pastries. In the summer time he plans to offer ice cream.

The Redmond Food Park, a new family-oriented food cart pod at 122 SW 5th St. in downtown Redmond, is now open and ready for guests to eat good food, play some cornhole and just chill out with friends and family.

The food park is alcohol free, and pod’s owner Hoss Talebi said he wanted to open a place focused on good food as opposed to beer and wine. The main building on the property houses Talebi’s second brick-and-mortar location of his restaurant Dogs and Fries. Talebi has another Dog’s and Fries location at the Bend airport. In addition to hotdogs and burgers, he offers breakfast dishes starting at 9 a.m. each morning.

Hours for the different carts vary, but most of the carts open at 11:30 a.m. and close around 8 p.m. Dogs and Fries opens at 9 a.m. and is open until 7 p.m.

Currently at the food park there are carts offering cheesesteaks, Mediterranean food, boba tea and soon a new coffee cart called Rockin’ Roasters.

The owner of Rockin’ Roasters is Carson Pond, a Redmond resident who hopes to open on March 20. Pond said he offers espresso based beverages and coffee from Sisters Coffee Company in addition to pastries. In the summer time he plans to offer ice cream.

“I had the idea of doing a coffee shop since I high school, but seeing how the mobile unit business has been booming, it’s like, ‘Wow, this is actually an attainable dream,’ Pond said. “I made it happen. It’s been a long process, but it is getting there. It is almost done.”

Pond said he was thrilled when he heard Talebi was setting up a new pod and quickly got ahold of him.

“He is just a really cool dude. Everyone here contributes to making this a really good spot,” Pond said. “I feel like I can make my own way, grow a brand, and do good for the community and do good for the world using coffee as a vehicle.”
