New 24/7 travel center set to open in north Redmond, hotel likely to follow

- A new travel center is the first part of a development in north Redmond that may soon include a large hotel.
No need to worry about running out of gas on the north end of Redmond anymore.
By late February or early March, a new 24/7 travel plaza and convenience story is set to open at the corner of NW Canal and NW Quince, in front of Home Depot.
But that’s just the beginning for the property. A hotel is in the planning stages that could include as many as 800 units and open by 2025.
The project is the brainchild of Turner, Ore.-based PNW Oil Oregon. Part-owner Pritpal Singh said his company owns and operates numerous convenience stores and a few hotels in Oregon and Washington State. They bought the property in north Redmond about three years and have been making development plans ever since, he said.
“We didn’t have anything in Redmond so this will be our first project in that area,” said Singh.
The project will start with the Redmond Travel Center. The store and gas station will feature 4,200 square feet of retail space, in addition to 16 outdoor fuel pumps. The store will also include a drive through, a walk-in beer cave, both hot and cold food, and the fried-chicken brand Krispy Krunchy Chicken. Outside there will be propane and air stations, and gasoline options ranging from ethanol-free to diesel.
Singh said they do not have hard numbers yet, but said dozens of people will be employed at the business.
But the travel plaza may be just the beginning of plans at the property.
Singh said the company also plans to begin construction on a roughly 800-unit hotel room to be built next to the travel center. Plenty of details still need to be worked out, and construction has not yet started. They are considering different branding opportunities.
“We’d like to bring something new that the area doesn’t have yet,” he said, noting that they were looking at options for branding.
He said they were leaning toward a hotel with extended stay options that could appeal to both highway travelers as well as vacationers. No work has started on the project, but Singh said they may begin construction this summer.
