Two Bend residents were arrested for trafficking drugs through Central Oregon and and found to be driving through Redmond with large amounts of fentanyl after attempting to flee police, the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team said in a release Friday.
The two people arrested were Andrew Scott Giordano, 48, of Bend, and Eric Wayne Reinwald, 47, also of Bend. Both were charged with unlawful delivery and possession of a controlled substance, unlawful delivery and possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine, as well as commercial drug offenses.
Giordano was also charged for attempting to elude police.
Police allege Giordano fled after police attempted a stop on his vehicle on Dec. 28 about 10:35 p.m. in Redmond at the intersection of Smith Rock Way and NE 33rd Street. Giordano later struck rocks and debris near NE 33rd Street and NW O’Neil Highway and his vehicle crashed there, the release said. Giordano and Reinwald were uninjured and arrested.
The two men were the target of a long-term investigation by the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team.
After their arrest, drug enforcement searched both the crashed vehicle and Giordano’s Bend residence, located in the 20000 block of Kristin Court. Police allege they found commercial amounts of fentanyl and methamphetamine, packaging material, cash and other items that indicate they were allegedly planning to distribute illegal narcotics, the release said.
Both Giordano and Reinwald have extensive charges on their record for crimes ranging from theft, burglary, and drug possession, Oregon court records showed. Giordano currently has an open case in Deschutes County from May 2023 where he was charged with allegedly possessing controlled substances, and attempting to commit a felony, records showed.
