Everybody has an opinion about Measure 110. Well, almost everybody.

The measure approved by voters was packed with promise. Oregon would become a place where people would get treated for drug addiction instead of sent to prison for it. Oregon needed more treatment options. And Measure 110 was going to take marijuana tax revenue and invest it in more treatment.

We didn’t seem to get what people thought we would get.

On Monday you get a chance to tell Oregon legislators what you think. Live. In front of them. Or remotely. You also can send your comments in.

A state committee that includes state Sen. Tim Knopp, R-Bend, and state Rep. Jason Kropf, D-Bend, has been meeting to decide how Measure 110 should be changed. Some legislators want it flat out repealed. Others are hoping for more minor changes.

The question is: What do you want? What do you think should be done?

We have pretty much been a broken record on this issue. We don’t think it is adequate to give a person addicted to drugs a ticket that has no consequences attached to it and expect them to change their ways. We do like, though, the improvement in the availability of treatment. Our favorite example might be the new treatment available that we saw in Redmond that helps keep moms with young kids get off and stay off drugs. That can change many lives for the better.

But what do you think? Tell legislators. If you want to be part of the hearing, you have to register in advance. Anyone can send in comments, though. There is more information here: tinyurl.com/M110meet.
