The Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center is a 123-acre site located in Redmond, east of downtown near the Redmond Airport.

It is placed strategically at the heart and hub of the tri-county area (Deschutes, Jefferson, Crook Counties) that together make up Central Oregon. The grounds are the annual home of the Deschutes County Fair, which takes place every year at the beginning of August.

The facility is designed on a circular plot. Standing at the center a person is never more than 300 yards from any one space. This Center Court is a sharp location for any outdoor event, it features a showpiece water feature in a natural landscape setting on 3.65 acres, complete with meticulously manicured grass, ponds cascading waterfall, and windmill.

The county-owned facility is more than just a fairgrounds, however. In 2022 it hosted two first-time music festivals called the Fairwell and Cascade Equinox festivals that brought big names and big beats. It also hosted, for the first time, the Art in the Desert fine arts show. Its arena routinely hosts rodeo events and is the home to Central Oregon’s professional indoor football team, the High Desert Storm.

It also hosts a plethora of conventions and fairs, including WinterFest, the Adventure Van and Overland expos, wrestling tournaments, the Central Oregon Ag Show and more.

You can’t beat the view, either. From the grounds, attendees can see a panorama of seven snowcapped mountain peaks that include Mt. Bachelor, all three of the Three Sisters, Broken Top and Mt. Jefferson. In the nearer distance you can enjoy views of Smith Rock and Black Butte.
