- A one-of-a-kind experience with more than 50 musical acts, interactive installations and more
Another big weekend is on tap in Redmond.
One has already kicked off — the Cascade Equinox Festival out at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center. Shows go until 4 a.m. out there at some of the fairgrounds buildings. Read more about the eclectic event built mostly around electronic music. It also includes art installations, local food and drink, and more. And don’t worry — those late night and early morning shows will all be indoors. And they also might help spread out traffic from the event. Also, the big campground set up on fairgrounds property will help reduce traffic jams as well.
If you have your afternoon free, head out to Ridgeview High School this afternoon at 1:30 p.m. to join the community in welcome home Korea and Vietnam veterans who took part in Honor Flight of Central Oregon. The crew, returning from Washington, D.C, is flying into the Redmond Airport and then parading over to Ridgeview for speeches and reflection. It’s a great event, so be sure to come out and show your support.
I’ve got a story in our next edition about a new affordable housing development just north of Redmond High, which is led by RootedHomes. The 22 home project is a mixture of duplexes and triplexes, but it will also revitalize a 1920s-era farmhouse on the property. Want to know how to enter a lottery to purchase one the homes, likely available for around $250,000? Read here.
I’ve also got a story about the Central Oregon Stamp Show next Saturday, but your’e going to have to stick around until Tuesday to read it in the mail.
And one more mention about a new thing in the Spokesman: A way to celebrate and memorialize our furry subscribers. For some, when they lose a pet, it feels no different than losing any other member of the family. That’s why we are adding pet memorials to our paper. Small pet-bituaries are available for $25 in black and white, all the way to extra large and in color for $100. To submit a pet memorial or get additional information, email hmckinney@redmondspokesman.com.
Please consider purchasing an annual subscription to the Spokesman — either for digital access or home print delivery. Call 541-923-1370 or go to redmondspokesman.com and we’ll get you signed up at an affordable price. That’s the best way to support our work and stay informed about your community.
