Letter: GOP leaders troubled by St. Charles insurance news
Published 2:45 am Tuesday, September 5, 2023
Central Oregonians are reliant on the single hospital system in St. Charles Health System. Residents trust on the hospital and their insurance to protect their health and the health of their families.
The recent reports of an ongoing dispute between St. Charles Health System and PacificSource regarding Medicare Advantage plans are troubling.
It is our understanding that as many as 26,000 people in the tri-county area choose coverage from Medicare Advantage to help augment their traditional Medicare coverage. Seniors living in Central Oregon are particularly vulnerable to changes in coverage, especially those on fixed incomes. Anxiety and stress can play a significant role in the lives of seniors mental health when their coverage is at risk.
We implore both St. Charles Health System and PacificSource to work collaboratively on a solution for the good of Central Oregon seniors who rely on both of your organizations.
In the spirit of collaboration, we offer our time and resources to help all parties achieve a workable solution.
Central Oregonians are counting on you.
