Letter: Concerns about design, upkeep of Quartz Park

Graffiti has already appeared on benches at Quartz Park in Redmond.

At times I feel compelled to point out things that I think can be improved, especially if the things were built with my tax dollars. The case in point is the bocce ball courts and horseshoe pits at the new park in the canyon off of Quartz Ave. Here are my concerns.

There seems to be no reason why the two facilities couldn’t have been built closer to the street in a more visible setting. Carrying a heavy bag of bocce balls didn’t seem to have been taken into account. Unfortunately, they are now where they are so that issue is moot.

There has been no effort, as yet, to do any landscaping or to even control the weeds and cheat grass that is taking over.

Bocce ball courts have never been marked for play. My wife brought this to the parks attention and was told they had no intention to do anything more with the courts.

I’m not a horseshoe person but it doesn’t look like the pits are very well maintained.

Graffiti is already appearing on the benches.

There are no signs to direct folks the above facilities. It seems they were built, then forgotten.
