From the editor’s desk: Pickleball and race cars

Snowden intern Janea Melido is back in the Redmond newsroom and spent the week at two fun Redmond experiences.

First, she visited with the recently-created and already fast-growing Rock Chuck Pickleball Club. The club has more than 150 members and is gaining every day. Join the club and get into some local tournaments and get priority on public courts in the city.

She also spent Friday out at the Gambler 500 out at the fairgrounds. You’ve probably noticed all the wild cars ripping through Redmond. Read about how they got their and the people who built and love them.

This is a fun read this week from Janay Wright, who often writes about food and recreation in Central Oregon, about bungee jumping off a Terrebonne icon. Wright just walked right off the Crooked River High Bridge. If you’ve ever stopped at the rest area there, looked down at the gorge and saw somebody bungee their way to the bottom, you’ve probably wondered what it feels like. Janay does explaining the terror and the fun.
