Together Women Rise celebrates 20 years of

advancing global gender equality

Redmond, Oregon — The Redmond chapter of Together Women Rise, a nonprofit which works to achieve global gender equality, is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the organization’s founding this year. Together Women Rise facilitates learning, giving and community-building to create a world where every woman and girl has the right to live freely, pursue her dreams, and reach her full potential.

“Our 20-year history is a testament to the collective power of people coming together to end inequality and oppression of women all over the world,” said Beverley Francis-Gibson, CEO of Together Women Rise. “Millions of women have benefited from the work of Together Women Rise over the past two decades, but there is still work to be done.”

Together Women Rise, formerly known as Dining for Women, was co-founded by Marsha Wallace and Barb Collins in Greenville, South Carolina, in 2003, and expanded to include hundreds of chapters across the United States and affiliated groups internationally.

Since inception, Together Women Rise has invested more than $10 million in over 60 low-income countries around the world through grants and strategic partnerships. Today, Together Women Rise works to achieve global gender equality by raising awareness of the barriers faced by women and girls, providing grants to grassroots organizations in low-income countries, and building community with women globally.

“Joining a chapter is an easy and fun way to raise money for critical programs, while also engaging members to be part of the solution.  Improved access to education, healthcare, nutrition, and business opportunities for women in poor countries is literally the difference between life and death”, expressed Julie Kassan, Chapter Leader.

The Redmond chapter is new and will hold an informational meeting on Thursday July 20th at a Redmond member’s home.  The group meets monthly to share a potluck dinner and learn about the sponsored grantee’s programs and achievements, and the way in which Together Women Rise support women and girls in the developing world.  For more information on the local chapter or to RSVP for the meeting, please contact twou93@gmail.com

Together Women Rise is a community of women and allies dedicated to achieving global gender equality. The nonprofit organization has hundreds of local chapters across the U.S. where members learn about and advocate for gender equality issues, give grants to organizations that empower women and girls in low-income countries, and build community to forge meaningful connections. (TogetherWomenRise.org)
