Traveling from Central Oregon to the bright lights and slot machines of Las Vegas just got easier.

Avelo Airlines announced June 22 direct flights between the Redmond Airport and Las Vegas. The airline’s Boeing 737 will fly between the two cities starting on Sept. 7. The route will operate twice a week, heading in both directions on Thursdays and Sundays.

On June 23, Avelo will also begin twice-weekly flights between Redmond and Sonoma County. The flights to Sonoma/Santa Rosa will operate on Mondays and Fridays.

Avelo also flies year-round direct to Burbank Airport in Southern California, and seasonal service to Palm Springs.

Redmond Municipal Airport Director Zachary Bass said in a release that the new routes “amplify the flight options between Redmond and four popular west coast destinations. Our facilities and staff are ready for continued growth that efforts, such as Avelo’s, allow us to provide.”

Avelo is a low-cost airline that started in 2021. It now serves nearly 50 cities in the United States.

Other direct flights from Redmond Airport include Alaska’s direct flights to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and San Francisco, American direct to Phoenix, Delta to Seattle and Salt Lake City and United flights to Denver, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
