Friday afternoon was filled with live music, drinks and cake for local business High Desert Florals as they celebrated their grand reopening in downtown Redmond.
Specializing in designer floral arrangements for weddings, deliveries and other events, owner Gloria Rice wanted to relocate her store from NW 7th St. to downtown “where all the action is.”
Now located at 231 SW 6th St. as of May 2023, High Desert Florals is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“One thing I love is to be able to support other people and small businesses especially if they are Redmond based,” Rice said. “Being able to have a place where I can do that is super important to me.”
Rice had been in the wedding industry since 2008 doing makeup, skin and florals. Eventually, she wanted to get into retail.
“I love being able to pick out cute little nifty things to sell and just having people come in and like meeting all new people,” she said. It’s so fun.”
The grand reopening had various hors d’oeuvres, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks as well as cake accompanied by live music by Rob
Gregerson.
Friends, colleagues and those passing by gathered around as Rice cut the ribbon outside her shop.
