Central Oregon Invisible Fence donated three pet oxygen masks to Redmond Fire and Rescue on June 12.
Fire marshal Tom Mooney first reached out to Invisible Fence after hearing about their oxygen mask program, Project Breathe, which donates pet-sized breathing masks to fire departments. The masks fit over the faces of pets who may have suffered smoke inhalation.
“If we’re going into somebody’s house that’s on fire and we find that pets are inside and unresponsive when we pull them outside, these masks are specially made to fit over the muzzle of the animal,” said Mooney.
Mooney said the donation program was recently discontinued, but Invisible Fence had some masks left over.
Invisible Fence owner Becky Grindeland was on hand to donate the masks — one each of a small, medium and large size that can fit animals as small as a mouse and as big as a horse.
“We love all of our furry family members — and (we’ll do) anything we can do to help out any one of them,” said Grinderland.”One of our biggest passions is to keep all of our animals safe.”
