Police investigate fatal motorcycle accident that left Redmond man dead

A 61-year-old Redmond man died June 8 in a motorcycle crash that police are investigating as a hit-and-run incident.

The Redmond Police Department on June 13 identified the victim as Johnny R. Phillips.

Redmond Police responded to a 911 call at around 10:52 p.m. Thursday describing a hit-and-run crash in the southbound lane of U.S. Highway 97 near NW Larch Avenue, according to a press release issued Friday.

Police arrived and found the motorcyclist, who was not named in the press release, and provided emergency medical care before medics took him to the hospital. He later died from his injuries.

Police believe the vehicle involved in the crash may have been a Dodge Ram pickup.

Police are asking people who live on W. Antler Avenue, Evergreen Avenue or Veterans Way near Highway 97 to review any video footage between 10:30 and 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, and look for the pickup.
