This Flag Day, June 14, the citizens of Redmond will assist in the placement and retrieval of 1,600 American flags throughout the city.

The effort is being led by the Redmond Downtown Flag Committee, commonly known as Flag City USA. Its website is www.flagcityusa.us.

Everyone of all ages is invited to help. Come participate and celebrate your American heritage. Meet at the Sixth Street Post Office at 5:45 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. The group will start placing flags beginning at 6 a.m.

Also, as the flag placement season begins, the group is  reviewing the condition of the flags. It has removed a dozen or more from service due to condition and added 30 flags that were previously ordered and are now in their first year of service. More are on order and will be added later in the year.
