I’ve lived in Redmond for almost 30 years, and taught in the Redmond School District for 19 years. My husband and I raised two kids who graduated from Redmond High. We taught our kids at home, too. At home they learned to assimilate what they read, heard, and experienced with the values we held as a family. They learned that people have different life experiences that inform their world views and decisions. We did not try to engineer a world where our views would never be challenged, nor did we shield them from ideas. Our family wasn’t unique. Most parents in our community want schools to do a good job teaching and nurturing our kids as individuals while we do the same at home.

Because education is the foundation of democracy, we’re all invested in ensuring that children become productive, thoughtful, engaged citizens. School board members help provide public education opportunities to a diverse group of students with diverse needs. I want people in these positions to support our school professionals, honor academic freedom, and reflect the values of Redmond. I value rational discourse and intellectual courage in public servants, and Liz Goodrich has represented me well.

Please vote to ensure that those elected to any leadership position in Redmond will reflect us as a community of respectful, responsible and compassionate people. Liz Goodrich has my appreciation, my respect, and my vote for re-election to the Redmond
