- The Doghouse Brewyard, located on the corner of SW Glacier Ave. and SW 9th St. in Redmond, will officially open on April 14 and offer food trucks, $6 pints and an off-leash dog park.
Wedged at the corner of SW Glacier Ave. and SW 9th St., The Doghouse Brewyard will officially open on April 14. The beer yard and dog park will be the first of its kind in Central Oregon.
The spot will include food trucks, $6 beer on tap and an off-leash dog park for customers. A ribbon cutting is set for 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
According to Oden, owner of the Doghouse Brewyard, there will be four rotating taps of local Central Oregon beers along with other drinks including ciders and nitro coffee. Additionally, there will be three rotating food trucks including Kook’i, which sells pastries and baked goods, Americana smash burgers and Red Beard Barbecue.
“My main goal is to create a community for people who want to take their dogs somewhere and be able to just have fun and relax,” Oden said.
Oden noted there will be events such as small dog, senior and singles hours.
“There’ll be a bunch of different events coming in,” Oden said.
The dog park is only for people 21 and older. All dogs must be spayed or neutered and be up to date on vaccinations. No human food, dog food, toys or chews are allowed in the park.
People without dogs can come to the park and order beer and food. But to bring their pets, a person will need to purchase a $25 monthly membership for the first dog and $10 for each additional dog. Annual membership is available for $225 for the first dog and $49 for each additional dog. Customers are limited to two dogs per person. If they want to bring more than two dogs, they will need to bring another person to handle them.
Dogs can get in for free on April 14 and there will be food specials and beer samples as well.
While starting a new business has not been easy, Oden said it has been exciting to watch the Doghouse Brewyard take shape and match the original dream from 2017.
“It’s been really fun watching it progress,” Oden said. “It’s not easy but it’s worth it.”
Heather Ward, who co-owns the Kook’i pastry truck with her husband Aaron Goss, thought the combo was a great idea and wanted to get involved as soon as she heard about it.
“I thought it was cool. I love dogs,” Ward said. “I was down. I was so ready for it.”
Ward said there’s a first time for everything and that she was excited for the Doghouse Brewyard to come together. For Ward, who spent four years at Sparrow Bakery in Bend, the location also brings her dream of opening a brick-and-mortar store in the next five years closer to reality.
“I’ve always loved food and making food pretty,” Ward said. “That’s my favorite thing in the world.”
According to Goss, they will still be catering events and making custom orders and recently hired part-time work to help with the business.
Kook’i has grown quickly, Goss said, with their end goal to have a brick-and-mortar store in Redmond in the next five years.
“It’s been snowballing along,” Goss said. “Thank God I have my snow gear on.”
