Ted Elmo Hudson Sr., 79, of Redmond, passed away Sunday, January 15th, 2023. He fought a relentless battle from Pancreatic cancer for the last 12 months of his life. He will be forever remembered for his positive attitude and faith in God to guide him through his journey.
Ted was born in Forest Grove to Elmo and Naomi Hudson. His family eventually moved to Caldwell, Idaho which is where he gained recognition for his ranching skills, hot rods and “Cowboy Logic”. Ted was the oldest of 3 boys in the Hudson family and took charge of mentoring and having their backs. Ted was a natural at finance and management. He retired in 2011 after 37 years as the CFO at Helser Industries, Tualatin, Oregon. He loved to travel and see other parts of the world including many cruises with his wife of 46 years.
Ted’s hobbies were boundless. Hunting, fishing, trap shooting, archery and so much more. His love of fly fishing launched him into a custom fly rod business where he sold his rods all over the world. He never advertised, it was “word of mouth”. His love of horses as a youth prompted a move onto 5 acres and a small horse ranch with his wife Stephanie. Lots of fun and lots of work! As aging caught up with the couple it was decided a move to Redmond in 2016 was in order and the ranching days were over. Ted made many new friends in the neighborhood and will be remembered for his outgoing personality and goodwill towards men (and women).
Ted is survived by his wife, Stephanie Hudson, children, Robin Torme’, Ted Hudson Jr, Cory Hudson, Wendy Pothast (Kurt), Granddaughter, Josie Pothast, Brother Rick Hudson (Anne) Modesto, CA, cousin Carol Haynes, Bend, and extended family members and friends dear to his heart.
A celebration of life will be held in Redmond late Spring/early Summer. He was kind and generous to all.
