Letter: Tell city how you feel about marijuana in Redmond

I encourage the citizens of Redmond to go on the city of Redmond website and take the city council’s flash poll of priorities.

Number 6 of this flash poll is regarding marijuana dispensaries. Deschutes County has at least 14 marijuana dispensaries in the county.

Redmond does not need marijuana dispensaries in the city limits. This will be on the council agenda this spring. Businesses in Redmond have struggled to survive during covid. The mission of the city council is to create and maintain community livability. Marijuana dispensaries encourage drug use and crime in our community. There is already a conflict of homelessness and our community livability. Marijuana contributes to homelessness.

The council’s mission is to create a high quality of life, ample family jobs and a safe environment in which to raise and educate families. Please be informed and let our counselor’s know what you think. This action is against the two-thirds majority of conservative Redmond citizens.
