Voting

Oregon elections are vote-by-mail. Anyone who is a resident of Oregon, a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years old by Election Day is eligible to vote.

Voter registration cards are available on the Deschutes County Clerk’s website (www.co.deschutes.or.us), at post offices, Redmond City Hall, Centennital Parking Lot or through the Department of Motor Vehicles when applying for a Oregon drivers license. Redmond Library — Deschutes Public Library

In addition to books (paper and electronic), the library has internet access, electronic databases for research, movies and CDs, and many online resources. The library is open, in its temporary location at 2127 S Highway 97, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday to Saturday. 541-312-1050, www.deschuteslibrary.org)

Redmond Post Office

The post office is also the local site to obtain U.S. passports. Open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. (618 NW Hemlock Ave. www.usps.com)

Sanitary services

Residents inside city limits can take care of water, sewer and garbage service with one stop at Redmond City Hall, 411 SW Ninth Street. Garbage service is mandatory within city boundaries. (More information: 541-923-7726)

Redmond-area residents outside the city who want garbage service can contact Republic Services directly. (541-548-4984)

Dog licenses

Owners who fail to license their dogs are subject to fines. License application forms are available at veterinary offices and BrightSide Animal Center in Redmond or at www.co.deschutes.or.us. (More information: 541-388-6637)

Oregon Driver and Motor Vehicle Services

Drivers who move to Oregon from another state must obtain an Oregon driver’s license even if an out-of-state license has not expired. Fee schedules, forms, Oregon traffic laws and other information, as well as options to renew licenses and make address changes, can be found at the agency’s website.
