It was a busy week for news in Redmond, which kicked off with a filled-to-the-brim city council meeting on Tuesday night. Much of the discussion centered on a safe parking program that has run successfully in a local church parking lot for more than a year, and is now looking for other locations to spearhead the program.

Residents in north Redmond, however, vociferously opposed the program operating in their neighborhood and took to task city staff who they said kept residents (and perhaps councilors) in the dark about the expansion.

So what is the safe parking program? Read about what it is and how it works here. Then make up your own mind.

But it isn’t all controversy in the Spokesman’s pages. We included features on the dwindling, but still present livestock within city limits. And flip through photos of the great cars that we snapped at last week’s car show.

This week’s Truck of the Week focused on one of the most popular meals-on-wheels in Redmond.

In the Aug. 30 paper, we’ll have tons of photos from area events, including a high-flying motorcycle show in Redmond, a wild water polo tournament, and a weekend airshow in Madras. And more stuff than we can list here — from big new housing developments to a look at school safety and bicycle community.

This news gathering is a community endeavor, so we’d love to have your partnership and support for our efforts.
