As part of a suite of changes coming to the Redmond Spokesman, the newspaper will soon be delivered via U.S. mail, arriving at most households on Tuesdays.
Starting with the April 5 edition, the paper will be printed on Monday nights and then taken to the post office. From there, papers will be delivered to mailboxes in and around the Redmond area on Tuesday — arriving a day earlier than most readers are currently receiving their paper.
The Spokesman’s digital edition, which is included free with a print subscription, will be delivered via e-mail to subscribers by 6 a.m. each Tuesday morning. All local stories will be posted immediately at www.redmondspokesman.com and on the newspaper’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
The change will ensure delivery of each and every edition to each and every subscriber.
“For a weekly paper, mail delivery makes a lot of sense,” said Spokesman editor Tim Trainor. “It allows us to have a reliable distribution partner to make sure everyone gets what they paid for. It will also allow our staff to focus on what readers want — more local content.”
It will reduce the cost of a subscription to $51 per year.
Subscribers can call the Spokesman’s customer service team at 800-781-3214 to sign up for the digital edition and for access to the Spokesman website.
The delivery change is just one of many updates for the paper. It is also in the process of moving into a new downtown newsroom on SW Sixth Street, next to the Odem Theater, which is set to open next month. New staffing updates are on the way, as well.
