Welcome to Redmond, the HUB of Central Oregon. Redmond is located at the crossroads of Highways 97 and 126, and is home of the regions only commercial airport (FLY RDM).
There are so many reasons to come explore Redmond. With a population of just over 35,400 residents, Redmond is the ideal size with just enough hustle and bustle to keep things interesting. Redmond sits at an elevation of 3,077 feet and has a semi-arid climate with just over 8” of rain a year, making it great place to enjoy some of the best weather in Oregon.
Redmond offers abundant amenities and resources including, excellent schools, health care, a world class Expo and Fairgrounds and, of course, some of the best recreational opportunities in the country. Highway 97 is the preferred North-South corridor for freight, connecting Washington and California with less elevation change for increased fuel economy over other travel corridors.
With its central location, Redmond is known as the “Hub” with all of the communities of Central Oregon located within minutes of downtown. If you are looking for air service, the Redmond Municipal Airport provides services to destinations most commonly offered only from larger airports. With five air carriers, Alaska, Allegiant, American, Delta and United, connecting Redmond to more than 10 direct destinations across the country, access to the world has never been easier.
Redmond is known for the schools that it keeps and providing an excellent education system is what Redmond is all about. From the outstanding K–12 system, an award winning charter school and private schools, the Redmond School District offers an excellent opportunity for youth to excel and develop the skills and talents needed to become tomorrow’s leaders.
The Redmond School District encompasses 550 square miles and educates more 7,500 students from the communities of Alfalfa, Crooked River Ranch, Eagle Crest, Redmond, Terrebonne and Tumalo.
Higher education is offered with the Central Oregon Community College’s North Campus located across the street from the Redmond airport and a four-year university is offered through OSU Cascade Campus in Bend.
Health care is another one of Redmond’s strong points. As part of the St. Charles Health Care System, Redmond offers an outstanding level of care from its 48-bed hospital, with 24-hour emergency care. St. Charles also operates a family care clinic and surgical specialist center. The St. Charles Health Care System also operates hospitals in Bend, Madras and Prineville. In addition, you can find excellent care from Bend Memorial Clinic, Summit Medical Group, Mosaic Medical and Your Care.
Redmond is home to one of the largest county fairgrounds in the state, The Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center (DCFE). Located on 320 circular acres and featuring 200,000 square feet of flexible indoor event space, the DCFE is the largest event venue east of the Cascades.
Home to the annual Deschutes County Fair in August attracts nearly 300,000 visitors annually during the 5-day event. Located adjacent to the Redmond airport with 200 acres of parking, and onsite RV Park, hosting events of all sizes, is a smooth seamless process. DCFE has a motto of “We really can do it all” and you know what, they really can!
Taking advantage of Redmond’s ideal weather and location is what locals and visitors do best. Redmond’s central location once again gives you unprecedented access to all that the region has to offer. Visible from most elevated points in Redmond, is the epic Smith Rock State Park. At just 7 miles from downtown Redmond, Smith Rock is a world-renowned rock-climbing destination and puts Redmond on the map with climbers. The Rock is not only popular with climbers, hikers, fishers and bird watchers but everyone interested in visiting this visually stunning state park.
