Historic ‘Patrick Building’ nearly renovated

The new year is bringing new life for the Patrick building on Deschutes Avenue, one of Redmond’s historical buildings that has been empty for the last decade.

The building, which was built in 1941 as the city’s first hospital, is in the last stages of a remodel meant to “preserve the gem that it is,” and provide seven executive office spaces for local professionals, said Jonathan Keith, a broker at Plus Property Management.

The original vision for the building — renamed “Patrick’s Corner” to differentiate it from the other Patrick buildings in Redmond — included a coffee shop or restaurant, said Keith, who noted that the downtown location, with backdoor access to Centennial Park, is perfect for a gathering place.

Lawnae Hunter, principal broker at Plus Property Management, is the managing member of Patrick’s Corner LLC and Keith is the project manager for the remodel.

So far, they have focused on the office spaces, because of Covid-19 restrictions on restaurants and coffee shops.

They are hopeful that “when COVID relaxes,” people working from home would be interested in a small office away from the distractions of home, said Keith.

Rent for the office spaces starts at $475.

“We’re really proud to be able to renovate a historic building,” said Keith.

The renovation is keeping as much original as possible in the art deco style building, including putting historical items found in the basement on display in the shared hallways, said Keith.

They would like to expand the historical display to include memorabilia and memories of the building from locals, said Keith, who is collecting the historical items.
