SISTERS — The City of Sisters’ Public Works Department began installing a new play structure at Village Green Park on Wednesday, March 11. Construction is anticipated to conclude May 23.

“We are pleased to upgrade the play structure at Village Green Park and provide children with more outdoor recreation opportunities,” said City Manager Cory Misley in a press release

The city partnered with the Sisters Park and Recreation District and City Park Advisory Board in the design of the new play structure and to engage children on its features.

“It was an extensive process, but we enjoyed working with Sisters Park and Recreation District,” said Misley. “We learned from local children by presenting the two options to them.”

The new play structure will include climbing rocks, multiple slides, traverse equipment, swing, and other play features that will attract children to experience the outdoors.

“Safety and accessibility also played roles in the decision process,” said Public Works Director Paul Bertagna. “The play structure will be placed on a 4” thick cushioned, shock absorbing foundation.”

Interruptions to park amenities during installation will focus on the area of the existing play structure. Park restrooms will remain open as will access to other locations around the park.

The city would like to direct parents and children to the Cliff Clemens Park play structure located on N. Larch Street during the installation at Village Green park.
